I tried to post this comment over on your guest post with The Book Smugglers, but it keeps giving me an error message. So here it is:
ReplyDeleteI just finished the first Dreamfall Chapters installment! Wow, it's been a long time coming. Anyway, I also loved the mechanism that tells you how many other players made the same choices you did throughout gameplay. Most of my decisions were with the majority, except that surprisingly only 6% of us said we wanted somewhere to belong when Queenie asked us what we were looking for. I don't remember the other choices specifically, but 6% seemed crazy!
And then, of course, there's Reza's lunch. Approximately 50% of us brought him cheese soup, the other 50% the sausage or whatever it was. I am very interested to see how that decision has an impact on the story. The consequences of cheese soup can't be too dire...right? Right?!
I am also waiting for the game to address the fact that at the very end of Dreamfall, when Reza walks into the hospital room Zoe says, "Careful, Dad. That's not really Reza." After that grotesque dude at Waticorp said he ate his dreams or whatever, and that "he went slowly, shrieking, bleeding, crying your name." So who, exactly, is it we're shacking up with now? And how does this doppelganger feel about cheese soup?
I can't wait for the next chapter :)
Yes, there's great potential for finding out what the heck is going on with Reza and that cheese soup. I bought him the soup - I saw no reason to try and force someone to like food they have already clearly said they didn't enjoy.
ReplyDeleteBut I also kicked him to the wall when he tried to tell Zoe she should just keep her head down and do nothing much like a good little girl. Even if he IS really Reza, that proved him unworthy.
What other "good old" adventure games have you played? Culpa Innata? The Black Mirror trilogy? Jane Jensen's Gray Matter?
ReplyDeleteI've played a lot of the classics. Space Quest, King's Quest, Monkey Island, etc.
